Practical Info
AA is self-supporting through voluntary contributions from its own members. The optional basket passed at many meetings helps cover basic expenses like rent, coffee, and literature. Contributions are never required.
AA pays its own expenses through voluntary contributions from members. This is part of AA's tradition of being self-supporting and independent. At many meetings, a basket is passed so members can contribute what they wish. That money may help pay for rent, coffee, literature, local service work, or other basic costs. Contributing is always optional. Newcomers are never expected to give anything. AA declines outside contributions from non-members and outside organizations. This helps AA stay focused on its primary purpose and free from outside influence. If you are an AA member and would like to support San Fernando Valley Area of Alcoholics Anonymous, contribution options are available at /contribute/. There is never any obligation.
