Getting Involved

Family and friends are welcome at AA open meetings to learn about the program. For support focused on their own needs, Al-Anon and Alateen are separate fellowships made specifically for loved ones.

If someone you love has a drinking problem, you may attend an AA open meeting to better understand AA and hear how members recover. Open meetings are available to anyone interested in learning about AA. AA's primary purpose is to help alcoholics recover. For family members and friends who need support for themselves, Al-Anon and Alateen are separate fellowships created for loved ones affected by someone else's drinking. They are independent of AA. If you are trying to help someone find AA, you can share /meetings/ or 818-988-3001. If you are looking for support for yourself, San Fernando Valley Area of Alcoholics Anonymous may be able to point you toward Al-Anon resources in San Fernando Valley.
